Denomination of Origin Regulatory Board 'Calanda Peach' was created in August 1999 by fruit producers in the Calanda area, Bajo Aragon, pioneering both the cultivation of selected varieties and bagging techniques in growing. Through this Board are regulated; the areas designated for cultivation, the system of field inscription, authorized cultivation techniques, permitted fruit varieties along with their characteristics, through to the complete treatment procedure and packaging of the peaches. The peaches of Calanda must meet the demands imposed by The Regulatory Body Denomination of Origin 'Calanda Peaches': a whole fruit, healthy and clean, external creamy yellow colour or uniform straw colour, firm flesh adhered to its stone, a minimum diameter 73mm,… All that makes the peach an extra category peach.
